During her recent appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel Live, Emily Blunt disclosed that she wanted to become a pop star.
“I could have been Britney (Spears),” she joked, adding that because of a minor detail, her dreams were short-lived.
Blunt added, “I realized that I wasn’t good at dancing and I didn’t want to be Britney…I don’t know.”
The actress also revealed that she had recorded some songs and even tried dance lessons.
The 37-year old further said, “I don’t want to tell you too much because I feel like someone is going to find these songs. Do you want to know the name of one of them? ‘Ring It Up’. It will never see the light of day.”
After sharing laughter with Jimmy Kimmel, Blunt confessed to the late-night host that she didn’t help write the tune for the songs.
The actress then jokingly said, “I can’t write. I can’t really sing – no, I’m just kidding.” Then she added that they said, “I think you have a nice voice and I think that you could be a pop star.” I said, ‘I can’t dance’. They said, “Don’t worry about it. We’ll teach you.” Emily then said “It didn’t work but I tried to learn”
She then said that she asked for the right advice from the A-List stars to help her make the right decision.
Emily recalled, “I was doing my first job with Judi Dench- which was incredible and she was very sweet and wonderful to me.”
“And I went to her for advice because I was really very nervous about this career that I didn’t know what was right for me. I didn’t think it was right for me and she was like ‘Oh no darling. You can’t act and do that’.” She said that and talked me out of it.
On the work front, Emily Blunt is looking forward to the sequel of ‘A Quiet Place’.
Talking about ‘A Quiet Place’, the movie was about a post-apocalyptic world where humans are the prey of fast-moving creatures who track victim by sounds. The plot of the 2018 movie revolved around a family struggling to survive in a world where making even the slightest of noise catches the attention of a predatory alien species who have taken over the planet posts the apocalypse.
