Popstar Ed Sheeran revealed how fatherhood has changed him and made his life more ‘wholesome’. He welcomed his daughter Lyra with his wife Cherry Seaborn last year. “It’s made me want to get up early in the morning to have more time in the day. I get up at 5.30 am with my daughter and we have breakfast,’ the singer told The Project on Thursday.
Ed Sheeran said he has changed his approach to life and work since the birth of his daughter Lyra last year. The perfect singer then went on saying, “I take her into the gym before I go to work.” He added, “My life has just shifted, it’s a lot more wholesome and I get more out of the day.”
The singer announced the safe arrival of his firstborn on September 1 last year. He revealed that Cherry, 28, had given birth the week before, he wrote, “Ello! A quick message from me as I have some personal news that I wanted to share with you… Last week, with the help of an amazing delivery team, Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran (Ed Sheeran daughter).” “We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Lots of love and I’ll see you when it’s time to come back, Ed x,” he completed his caption.
Previously, while talking BBC Radio 1’s Greg James, he said, “As soon as Cherry told me she was pregnant, life shifted, in terms of work and health and what I was putting into my body, be it food or alcohol.” He also said, “I started exercising more and my routine became a bit more healthy.” The star also changed his work habits, working “nine to five” instead of finishing recording sessions at 2 am. “It actually freaks out producers. I was in Los Angeles working with these producers that usually start working at 6 pm and finish at 6 am with people like Post Malone and Dua Lipa,” the singer added.
The Shape of You singer continues, “I was like, Yeah, we’re starting at nine. And they were like, ‘What?’ But I do find you get more done. There’s less faffing.” Sheeran and wife Cherry Seaborn announced the birth of their first child, Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran, in August, telling fans they were “completely in love”. The pop star later revealed the newborn was “not my biggest fan” and “just cries” when he sings his new songs to her. Ed Sheeran and Cherry exchanged the vows in a private ceremony in January 2019. They first met as children when they both attended Thomas Mills High School in Framlingham, Suffolk.
