Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is known for giving surprises and this time he surprised the one who is really close to his heart. The Rock has recently surprised his mother, Ata Johnson, with a brand new home. His sweet surprise brought tears to his mom’s eyes! The wrestler turned actor took to Instagram to share a precious video of his mother’s shocked reaction. The Red Notice actor also penned a heartfelt caption that begins, “Love you mom and surprise!”
The video began with his dear mother standing outside the home, which had a large black door in front. It was soundtracked by the sentimental song Over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole. The actor continued in his caption, “When I was a little boy, I hated when my mom would cry ~ these days, I’ll happily take her tears of joy.” The Rock included a crying smiling emoji to emphasize his point before adding: ‘I surprised my mom and bought her a new home.’
Giving his fans insight into the process, Johnson noted, “Took me and my design team 8 weeks to get it ready, where she could walk thru her front door for the very first time and everything she saw was brand new and a total surprise.” The actor then said his mom has told him “over and over these past few years, ‘After a lifetime of travelling, I want this home to be my last. That’s my dream.'” Speaking directly to his mom, who he endearingly calls Mama Rock, “Mom, there’s no greater feeling than to make you happy… welcome home.”
The Jungle Cruise star later posted a second snippet of his mom getting acquainted with her new space. He gave more details about the surprise as he said, ‘Very cool moment. Brought my mom into her new family room where we placed her vintage ukuleles on the wall and I was able to unearth pictures of our ancestors that she hasn’t seen since she was a child growing up in Samoa.’
At the top of the clip he said, ‘Alright mom, this is your big room. Welcome home.’ A stunned Ata slowly looked around the room and covered her mouth in happy shock. The superstar noted, ‘She misses her mom and dad. I miss them too,’ before adding, ‘Thank you God for blessing me with a little bit of work ethic to make stuff like this happen.’ Check below the video!
