Dua Lipa Ditches singing As She Prepares To Make Movie Debut

Dua Lipa also hopes to explore the business side of the acting world and produce projects for herself to star in.

Dua Lipa’s songs Levitating and New Rules are famous around the globe. Despite being a worldwide singing sensation, Dua wants to try something new this year. The singer is halting her singing career for a while and is now ready to make her movie debut and aims to bag herself an Oscar.

The chart-topping star is set to make her acting debut in Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming spy drama Argylle, which co-stars Henry Cavill, Sam Rockwell and Bryce Dallas Howard. However, as Dua is officially entering the film industry, it is said that she is planning to bag herself more roles while also hoping to land herself a nomination or two at the Academy Awards.

Additionally, the singer also hopes to explore the business side of the acting world and produce projects for herself to star in. Her upcoming project Argylle is based on a book. However, other information has been kept under tight wraps.

However, while gushing about filming the spy drama, Dua shared “It was really exciting. But I think for me it’s, like, baby steps.” The singer added, “That’s also the best way to discover yourself, rather than throwing yourself in the deep end with something that maybe you can’t completely tackle head-on.”

She further shared that her biggest fear would be taking on a really big role and being, like, ‘now I have to be an actor and feel these emotions and feelings on camera when I haven’t brought myself up to that point yet.’ Apart from acting and singing, Dua made headlines last year as speculation swirled that she was dating talk show host Trevor Noah. However, Dua later debunked the rumours.

Not a while ago, the first look of Argylle was revealed. Enola Holmes actor Henry Cavill and singer-turned-actress Dua Lipa get close with a dance in the first glimpse from the upcoming Apple TV plus’ new spy thriller movie Argyle. The actor stars as the title character in this new film from director Matthew Vaughn, with the singer making her acting debut as Lagrange.

Cavill posted the first photo on Instagram, though a brief teaser video has also surfaced on social media featuring the first bits of footage of Cavill, Lipa, and West Side Story breakout star Ariana DeBose. The photo features a dapper Cavill in a sharp emerald green suit while dancing close to Lipa, clad in a glimmering gold gown.
