The “Physical” singer revealed some insight into the roots of the romantic relationship between her and boyfriend Anwar Hadid during the virtual episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Monday night.
When Cohen asked Lipa, 24, and fellow guest Lena Dunham if any of them dropped into Instagram’s celebrity DMs, the British pop star hesitated for a couple of moments before she admitted the truth.
“I have a confession to make … mine was my boyfriend, so my current boyfriend,” she said. “I definitely did that.”
However, before she got friendly on social media, Lipa explained she met her model boyfriend, 20. “No, we actually met at a barbecue,” she shared. “But then it carried on onto DMs.”
Dua Lipa was first linked to Hadid last year in June. The pair made their red carpet debut at American Music Awards in November.
The couple is social distancing together in London, following the coronavirus pandemic. The pair have been hunkered down in an Airbnb since March, after Lipa’s apartment, flooded.

“It’s been really great — easy and fun and chill,” Dua told a leading entertainment magazine last month about living with Hadid. “We’ve been making the most of this because we got all this extra time that we weren’t expecting to just hang out. It’s been an absolute blast, and we’re learning so much more about each other.”
Despite the huge success of her previous album, Lipa admitted she had fought in the lockdown. “Some days are just a little bit harder than the others. Some days go by quickly and some days you’re like, ‘When is this going to end?’ ” she said.
Lipa concluded, “You have to allow yourself to feel all these things, all these feelings are completely valid.”
