Drake Performs ‘I Want It That Way’ With Backstreet Boys: Watch

Champagne Papi joined BSB on stage Saturday night at the group's DNA World Tour stop in the rapper's hometown of Toronto, Canada, to sing their classic "I Want It That Way."

Before contributing vocals to one of the band’s most recognizable tracks, Drake outlined the reasons the late ’90s classic is so dear to his heart. The “Life Is Good” rapper shared on Toronto’s Budweiser Stage after BSB introduced Drake as the boy band’s “6th member” that when he was 13, he had a crush on a girl he knew but wasn’t sure whether the feelings were mutual until at his Bar Mitzvah when the girl approached him and requested that they dance to none other than Backstreet Boys’ “I Want It That Way.”

The song, which Drake later referred to as “one of the greatest songs of all time,” was the first time in Drake’s life that he felt like he “had a shot at being cool.” Then, when Drake and BSB sang along to the song, they even performed some of their trademark boy band dance moves for the audience. The Backstreet Boys and Drizzy, both, posted clips of the performance on Instagram with the group remarking, “What’s better than I Want It That Way? I Want It That Way… f/ @champagnepapi #BSBTO #DNAWORLDTOUR.”

The BSB’s DNA World Tour, which began in Toronto and will end in March 2023, will take the band to 83 locations worldwide, including international stops in Mexico City, Vancouver, London, Berlin, Sydney, Amsterdam, and Barcelona. They had an interview with Cassie DiLaura from Entertainment Tonight back in April at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas for the launch of their world tour,.

Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, A.J. McLean, and Kevin Richardson discussed bringing nostalgia back to their fans, many of whom are now adults and eager to relive their youth when they attend one of BSBs concerts. Nick Carter said, “Backstreet Boys represents a really special place in time with nostalgic music and it makes people happy. And so, I’m looking forward to getting back out there and just giving a little joy to everyone’s life.” “Once we hit the stage, I think it’s just seeing the reaction and the smiling faces and people singing the songs,” added Brian.
