‘Don’t Look Up’ Teaser Arrived: Leonardo And Jennifer Out To Save The Planet

Sci-Fi Drama Don't Look Up is about two low-level astronomers, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence. They try to warn the world about a comet approaching the Earth.

The most awaited Netflix sci-fi drama Don’t Look Up first teaser trailer is here. On Wednesday, Netflix unveiled the first look of its star-packed black comedy series Don’t Look Up. The Netflix series starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Rob Morgan, Jonah Hill, Mark Rylance, Tyler Perry. This series also includes Ron Perlman, Timothee Chalamet, Ariana Grande, Cate Blanchett, Meryl Streep, Himesh Patel, Matthew Perry, and Chris Evans. Lionardo is playing as an astronomy professor. Lawrence is his student. Both try to warn the world of an approaching comet that may destroy the planet. But as we can see in the official teaser trailer, the US government and others aren’t really bothered.

In the first scene of the teaser, Leonardo is having a panic attack while Lawrence is shocked at what she sees on a screen. While an intervening title card establishes the credentials of the writer-director Adam McKay. He has also directed the oscar-winning financial crisis comedy-drama The Big Short, the comedy films Step Brothers, Anchorman, and the Dick Cheney biopic Vice. We can get glimpses of their scientist assistant Morgan, a Chalamet an environmentalist, news anchors Blanchett and Perry, and chaos in the streets as citizens protest.

In the other shot DiCaprio, Lawrence, and Morgan can be seen at the White House. The chief of staff and son of Streep’s US President, Hill’s character says to the trio, “Your breathing is stressing me out.” “This will affect the entire planet,” DiCaprio again tries to warn all but they don’t take him seriously. Hill coldly replies, “I know, but it’s so stressful.” We can also see Ariana Grande and Rylance’s characters before we end up in a diner where DiCaprio asks for more ice water, while Lawrence goes for “two more glasses of white wine and I don’t need the judgy face.”

The Don’t Look Up trailer moves to the proposed solution which is involved in blasting the comet with missiles. The trailer also shows us a sneak peek of discussion or heated debate at the White House meeting. Lawrence can be seen giving warning, “There’s a comet headed directly towards Earth.” President of the Streep fire back saying, “You know how many ‘the world is ending’ meetings we’ve had over the last two years?” While Hill jumped into the discussion and said “Drought, famine, hole in the ozone. It’s so boring.” The minute-long trailer ends with DiCaprio’s surprised reaction. He was stunned at the response that he is getting from the people who are in charge to protect citizens. While Lawrence rolls her eyes and looks away.

The official synopsis of the upcoming Netflix series reads:
Kate Dibiasky (Jennifer Lawrence), an astronomy grad student, and her professor Dr. Randall Mindy (Leonardo DiCaprio) make an astounding discovery of a comet orbiting within the solar system. The problem — it’s on a direct collision course with Earth. The other problem? No one seems to care. Turns out warning mankind about a planet-killer the size of Mount Everest is an inconvenient fact to navigate. With the help of Dr. Oglethorpe (Rob Morgan), Kate and Randall embark on a media tour that takes them from the office of an indifferent President Orlean (Meryl Streep) and her sycophantic son and Chief of Staff, Jason (Jonah Hill), to the airwaves of The Daily Rip, an upbeat morning show hosted by Brie (Cate Blanchett) and Jack (Tyler Perry). With only six months until the comet makes an impact, managing the 24-hour news cycle and gaining the attention of the social media-obsessed public before it’s too late proves shockingly comical — what will it take to get the world to just look up?!

Don’t Look Up will stream worldwide on Netflix from December 24. It is set to release in cinemas in selected cities on December 10. It will not release in Indian theatres.
