Obi Ndefo, best known for his role as Bodie Wells in the popular TV series ‘Dawson’s Creek’, passed away at the age of 51 on August 31, 2024. The actor, who was also recognized for his yoga teachings, had faced a tragic accident in 2019, which resulted in the loss of his legs. His passing was announced by his sister, Nkem Ndefo, on social media, though the cause of death has not been disclosed.
Nkem Ndefo shared the news of Obi Ndefo’s death with a heartfelt post on social media with a picture of them enjoying time together outdoors. She wrote, “Heartbroken at the loss of my younger brother and knowing he’s finally at peace.”

Mary-Margaret Humes, who played Gail Leery, Dawson Leery’s mother in the series, shared her shock on Instagram by sharing a heartfelt video and wrote, “These words don’t come easy. It’s hard for me to conceive that you have left us, my dear friend. You always were and always will be a bright shining light. What an example of pure unfiltered love and tenacity you set as you faced life’s challenges of recent. I will cherish all of our messages of love and support to each other over the past few years. Rest in peace sweet warrior.”
Katie Holmes also took to her Instagram story and paid tribute to Obi Ndefo. She shared a reel posted by Mary-Margaret Humes and wrote, “He was wonderful to work with and such a kind man. I send prayers and grace to his family. Rest in Peace,” along with a heart emoji.
