Dakota Johnson has had her fair share of viral moments. Lauren Zima from Entertainment Tonight chatted with Johnson on being a meme and all the exciting projects she has in the works ahead of the premiere of her new flick, ‘Cha Cha Real Smooth.’ When asked if she is aware of any of her internet-breaking footage, such as her notorious 2019 interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and describing her love of limes on an Architectural Digest tour of her house, Johnson answered, “I’m not aware of them.”
The actress added, “I have no idea why these things happen, and when someone asks me about it a year later.” While Johnson is unaware of her many meme-worthy moments, the rest of the world is, and admirers have manufactured T-shirts out of them. The actress revealed, “The other day, Spike Jonze sent me a picture of a woman who works with him wearing a T-shirt of something I said with a drawing of me on it. I was like, ‘what?!'”
Her upcoming film, Cha Cha Real Smooth, is also certain to create headlines, with the Fifty Shades of Grey actress playing a young mother to an autistic teenage daughter in the production, produced by Johnson. After becoming the babysitter for Johnson’s daughter, the duo form an unusual bond with a party starter (played by Cooper Raif) at a bat mitzvah. Raif is the director while Johnson is the producer and this gave the pair an opportunity to collaborate on and off-screen.
She said, “Well, a lot of this process was different, because we worked on everything together,” Johnson added, “Depending on what we shot, and how it went, and if anything was improvised or if we didn’t get something or we got extra whatever it was, then we would adjust further the following scene so that it would make more sense or call back to a joke that was made that wasn’t previously in the script. So, just constantly updating, so that it was a real, cohesive story.”
Johnson’s introduction into the Marvel Universe as Madame Web is one of the most exciting undertakings in her career that will allow her to wear many hats. While she couldn’t say much, Johnson stated that being a part of a big action film has long been a goal of hers. “I can tell you pretty much nothing that isn’t already on the internet. I’m so excited. It’s pretty cool to be in the Marvel world, especially with a character that’s not so known.”
Fifty Shades Of Grey actress went on to say, “So, there’s a lot of space for us to make her very cool,” Johnson explained. She continued, “It’s always been a dream of mine to do some kind of, like, massive action movie. I always wanted to do, like, a female Indiana Jones…I really have, always.”
