Courteney Cox Reveals A Shocking Detail About ‘Scream’

The latest installment of Scream is the fifth movie in the Scream franchise and set 25 years later since the mysterious murderer's killing rampage.

Courteney Cox has recently spilled one shocking detail about Scream. In a recent interview, Friends actress talked about a proposed Scream murder that almost changed the entire course of the franchise. The actress told that one of the 1996 horror hit’s stars was set to be killed off in the first movie before the producer realized how popular the character would be.

Courteney explained, “There was a time, I think it was in the first Scream, where David’s character Dewey was gonna be killed off.” “Then they saw how he came across and people loved him so they scrapped it,” she added of David, who went on to star in the film’s four subsequent sequels.

Scream was first debuted in the year 1996 and the story follows Sidney Prescott played by Campbell, a high school student in the fictional town of Woodsboro, California, who becomes the target of a mysterious killer in a Halloween costume known as Ghostface. The original movie was directed by Wes Craven and written by Kevin Williamson. Scream stars David Arquette, Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Matthew Lillard, Rose McGowan, Skeet Ulrich, and Drew Barrymore.

Meanwhile, the latest installment of Scream is the fifth movie in the Scream franchise. Scream 5 is set 25 years later since the mysterious murderer’s killing rampage shocked the town of Woodsboro, California, a new killer sporting the Ghostface mask emerges, targeting a group of teenagers in an attempt to resurrect secrets of the past.

Meanwhile, it will be interesting to watch and unmask the mask as the fifth installment’s tagline already teased, “It’s always someone you know.” The returning cast includes Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette with the addition of new members in the cast, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Dylan Minnette. Scream 5 is already in theaters from January 14.
