Chris Evans has once again addressed speculation about his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, firmly stating that he is “happily retired”. Despite reports surfacing in December 2024 suggesting his comeback for Avengers: Doomsday, Chris Evans denied the claims. Speaking to Esquire magazine, the former Captain America star expressed frustration over the constant rumours saying, “This always happens. I mean, it happens every couple years – ever since Endgame. I’ve just stopped responding to it.” However, fans remain skeptical as Marvel actors have previously denied their involvement and later appeared in the films.
Anthony Mackie, Evans’ longtime MCU star was equally surprised by the reports. In the same Esquire feature, Mackie revealed that he had Evans about the rumours just weeks ago. ” I was like, ‘You know, they said they’re bringing everyone back for the movie. Are you coming back?’ He goes, ‘Oh, you know, I’m happily retired.’” Mackie admitted that he learned about the rumours from his manager and had no insider information about Evans’ potential return. This uncertainty leaves fans questioning whether Chris Evans is really off the table for Avengers: Doomsday .
