This news comes in after the pilot was not picked up by CW, which finally decided and went back to the drawing board for reshooting and writing it yet again. The core and leading star cast and trio was meant to be Chloe Bennet as Blossom, Dove Cameron as Bubbles and Yana Perrault as Buttercup and now this hugely anticipated series is going to recast Blossom sometime in this fall.
According to a leading and globally reliable digital entertainment publication, Chloe’s schedule didn’t work out smoothly at all with the new production shooting schedule for the series even though the globally renowned American television network CW wanted her to continue essaying the role of Blossom in Powerpuff.
As far as the news outlet knows, Dove and Yana will continue with their original roles as Bubbles and Buttercup in CW’s live-action TV series Powerpuff. The series will follow Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup as young adults who are dealing with the aftermath of a childhood spent fighting crime, and figuring out whether they should reunite to save the day once more.
Back in an earlier interview a few months back at 9th June 2021 with a leading global entertainment publication, speaking about the reason why the pilot is being reshot, Dove Cameron had said, “It’s a really big piece of IP, and it’s tonally very specific. Like getting it right, making everybody happy, and also making sure that it translates. It’s so specific. To modernize it and to make it fit like, a bunch of different things that don’t normally go together, it’s just kind of like a puzzle piece”.
She also added, “So we’re removing some elements and we’re replacing others. I think the script is going to get another whack, and it’s just going to be a slightly different approach but everything else is going to stay the same”.
