2022 witnessed a series of major controversies, but Hollywood celebrities have created more buzz. As the year 2022 came to an end, Google trends released the list of top trending actors of the year. And it won’t surprise you as Johnny Depp tops the list.
Johnny Depp
Depp was the top trending actor searched this year as the high-profile lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber Heard unfolded from April to June. However, the actor was also the top trending search of any person overall.
Will Smith
The second position of the top trending actor has been bagged by non-other than Will Smith. Men In Black star is probably the most controversial actor of 2022. Smith slapped comedian Chris Rock during the live telecast of the 2022 Oscars in March after Rock made a joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. After the Oscars slap, Will Smith had been resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and was banned for the next 20 years from attending its ceremonies.
Amber Heard
Amber Heard was the third most-searched trending celebrity and overall person list. The Aquaman actress had penned an op-ed in The Washington Post wherein she described herself as a victim of domestic abuse. Though she didn’t directly mention the name of Johnny Depp in the op-ed, the timeline of the abuse hinted at the actor’s name only. That results in Depp losing a series of movies and dragging Heard into the courtroom. The rest is history!
Chris Rock
Chris Rock is the fourth on the trending list. The comedian made the headlines after he was smacked by Will Smith during the 94h Academy Awards this year in March.
Jada Pinkett Smith
The fifth top-trending actor is Jada Pinkett Smith. Jada’s medical condition, alopecia areata, which results in her shaved head was the centre of Chris Rock’s joke during the Oscars 2022.
Joseph Quinn
Joseph became a heartthrob after his appearance in the spooky drama series Stranger Things 4. The actor starred as Eddie Munson in the Netflix series.
Evan Peters
Evan Peter was propelled to the list after his amazing performance in the Netflix series Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.
