Caught Stealing: Austin Butler and Zoë Kravitz to Star in Darren Aronofsky’s Upcoming Film

Acclaimed Director Assembles Star-Studded Cast for Thrilling New Heist Film

Zoë Kravitz and Austin Butler are set to join forces in Darren Aronofsky’s upcoming film Caught Stealing, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The movie, based on the novel by Charlie Huston, promises to be a thrilling addition to Aronofsky’s acclaimed filmography. Huston also wrote the screenplay for the film.

Set in the underworld of New York City in the 1990s, Caught Stealing revolves around Hank Thompson, a former baseball player who finds himself entangled in a dangerous heist after a case of mistaken identity. Butler will take on the role of Thompson, while Kravitz’s character details remain under wraps.

Aronofsky, known for his work on Black Swan (2010) and Requiem for a Dream (2000), will be directing the film with his signature intensity and vision.

“I am excited to be teaming up with my old friends at Sony Pictures to bring Charlie’s adrenaline-soaked roller-coaster ride to life,” Darren Aronofsky said on casting Austin Butler. “I can’t wait to start working with Austin and my family of NYC filmmakers,” the filmmaker added.

Zoë Kravitz, fresh off her critically acclaimed performance in The Batman (2022), continues to build an impressive resume with diverse and challenging roles. Her involvement in Caught Stealing is expected to bring a unique dynamism to the film. Butler, who recently received widespread praise for his portrayal of Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, is another strong addition to the cast, further heightening expectations for the movie.

The production of Caught Stealing is backed by Darren Aronofsky and his partner Ari Handel via Protozoa Pictures.

Caught Stealing is part of a wave of high-profile projects featuring Kravitz and Butler, both experiencing significant career momentum. Kravitz has made her directorial debut with Blink Twice (earlier titled ‘Pussy Island’), starring Channing Tatum, her fiancé, while Butler is working on several projects following his breakout role in Elvis (2022), Dune: Part Two (2024) and his latest The Bikeriders.

As Aronofsky brings together a compelling story, a talented cast, and his unique directorial vision, Caught Stealing is poised to be a standout addition to the thriller genre.
