Camila Cabello Shares Going Through ‘Worst Mental Health State Ever’

The 'Senorita' singer, shared facing issues because of her mental health and revealed how 'therapy' helped with her 'anxiety'.

It’s 2022, it’s high time that we realize that mental well being is as imperative as our physical well and kudos to celebrities like Camilla, who’re using their recognition and platform that they have to discuss issues like anxiety and depression, that otherwise get stigmatized. For the unversed, Camilla’s love life has been through some turmoil, with fans left equally heartbroken after her unexpected breakup with beau Shawn Mendes.

Camilla recently released her new album ‘Familia’ and while promoting the song, the 25-year-old singer said her mental health wasn’t in a good shape when she started recording her album. She spoke openly about seeking help after feeling ‘cripplingly anxious’. “I was cripplingly anxious and was in the worst mental health state ever” Cabello shared. “And then I took a break at the beginning of the pandemic. I started doing therapy and trying to feel better.”

It was also suggested how her tragic breakup with Shawn also could have added to her anxiety and mental health state. the singer had opened up about the ‘unexpected turn’ that their relationship took, she said, I fcking love Shawn. And I feel like there is literally nothing but love for him,” the singer said. This song is mostly just about like, ‘Okay, how do I make a song that shows the cycles of love, and life’… You know, whatever it is that’s going on in your life. Whether it is a breakup or a divorce, or like you said, a friend breakup or you’ve just gone through something that just is really shtty. Hopefully, this can make you be like, ‘It is that way now, but things are always taking crazy turns.”

Camila also shared how throughout the past years, her priorities have fluctuated, “Those years that we were together. My focus was just, how can I live a happy life and be in a healthy, happy relationship? I was doing therapy a lot. My focus really has shifted. And even now while I’m in promo mode, honestly, if I’m not having fun, what’s the f*cking point?” Camila said. “I think as I get older, the priorities shift. And I feel like that was that way for both of us. Because we both started so young too, we’re really learning how to be healthy adults. And that sometimes means not having your number one focus be your career. And that’s okay” she said.

Reflecting on her therapy sessions, she shared, “For me, it was, if this process doesn’t help me in feeling better, and if it’s not me being honest and vulnerable and unfiltered, I don’t really see how this is going to happen,” Cabello said. “That was my intention, was just to be myself, whatever that looked like at the time.”I really feel like I’m living my truth and I’m speaking my truth,” she said after sharing how she feels ‘amazing’ right now. In May 2020, Camila shared with her fans how she experiences OCD that makes her relentlessly ‘anxious’. “To put it simply, it made me feel like my mind was playing a cruel trick on me,” she said. Not just mental health, the ‘never be the same’ singer also endorses body positivity and mentioned how she pays no mind to upsetting comments about her pictures online.
