BTS Announces Hiatus To Focus On Solo Careers

After 9 years of performing together as a band, BTS has chosen to take a break to focus on their individual careers.

BTS is undoubtedly the most successful boyband in history. This year marks the band’s ninth anniversary, which comprises RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. BTS announced their sabbatical during their annual Festa dinner, which is part of their yearly founding celebration. They discussed their future plans and informed supporters that they need time to rest and focus on individual projects.

In the one-hour Festa film, the members reflect on their successful voyage together before outlining their plans to pursue different ventures. RM feels that, while the band has accomplished a lot, the individual members still need to grow and develop as people as independent musicians. J-Hope also stated that they need spend more time apart in order to re-learn how to be a couple. “I think we should spend some time apart to learn how to be one again,” RM shared.

RM continues, “I hope you don’t see this as a negative thing and see it as a healthy plan. I think BTS will become stronger that way.” The band went on to say that making the choice was difficult and that they apologized for perhaps disappointing their Army. “It’s not like we’re disbanding!” Suga clarified, trying to sweeten the conversation. According to the members, J-Hope and Suga, who have both released solo mixtapes in the past, will release separate albums. Jungkook also announced the launching of a solo album.

In the video, the boys spend almost an hour having supper together and supporting each other’s personal initiatives. The K-Pop group announced while they ate that they had moved out of the house they shared and are now living in separate apartments. K-pop BTS also discussed their affection for their fans, which brought J-Hope and Jimin, who is 26 years old, to tears. Meanwhile, the band is talking about getting matching ‘friendship tattoos’ to help them stay connected and keep their link intact as they work on their individual projects.

Boyband breakups aren’t often followed by a reunion. Zayn Malik famously left One Direction in 2015 after five years with the band. Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson, the rest of the members, later stated they would be taking an extended break to work on separate projects and have yet to reunite.
