‘Bridgerton’ Begins Filming For Season 3, Announces New Cast Members

Bridgerton Season 3 is now official. The historical drama has begun filming Season 3 in London, with numerous known names returning and three new cast members.

Marcus Anderson will be played by Daniel Francis, a classically trained actor best known for his performance as Dave Shaw in the Netflix thriller “Stay Close.” According to the press release, his character is “a charismatic presence who lights up any room he enters, attracting the notice of certain matriarchs in the ton and the ire of others.” According to the press announcement, Sam Phillips will play Lord Debling, a “genial lord with unusual interests.”

Phillips is a theatre and TV actor who has previously starred in Netflix’s “The Crown.” His persona, like Francis’, will draw a lot of admirers. The final newcomer on the list is James Phoon, who has only recently entered the acting world. He will portray Harry Dankworth, a role that will more than makeup for his “lack” of knowledge and wit with his “serious good looks.” After hearing Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) criticize her to his friends in season 2, Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) had finally grown tired of him in season 3.

She is instead concentrating on finding a partner who would value her independence and allow her to continue living a double life as Lady Whistledown, away from her mother and sisters. But her quest doesn’t go so well because of her lack of confidence. Meanwhile, Colin has returned from his summer travels with a fresh appearance and lots of confidence. He is disappointed to realize that Penelope, the one person who has ever accepted him for who he is, is avoiding him.

Colin helps Penelope increase her confidence in order to attract the ideal husband in an effort to win back her friendship. Colin must decide what his genuine feelings for his pal are as his lessons begin to work a bit too effectively. Penelope’s quarrel with Eloise (Claudia Jessie), who has found a new companion in an odd place, complicates matters, while Penelope’s rising influence in the ton makes concealing her Lady Whistledown alter identity all the more difficult.

Season 3 also introduces new showrunner and executive producer Jess Brownell, who takes over duties following the departure of series creator Chris Van Dusen last season. This season, Van Dusen will continue to serve as an executive producer with Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, and Tom Verica.
