Actor Brendan Fraser’s career has been on a roll lately after disappearing from the world of filmmaking, the actor recently won the best actor award for his role as an obese man in the movie “The Whale”, he has also been a part of “Doom Patrol” and Killers of the Flower Moon”. Although he has worked in many movies he is mostly known for his role as Richard “Rick” O’Connell in The Mummy franchise and its two sequels. Since his involvement in “The Whale” has thrown him back into the spotlight fans are speculating if they would get to see O’Connell back in action.
The Mummy franchise was remade in 2017 with Tom Cruise in the leading role, although the movie had a huge budget and a great actor it was not able to capture audiences’ attention as Brandon did back when he starred in The Mummy.
In an interview, Fraser was asked about the 2017 reboot of The Mummy to which he responded “was too much of a straight-ahead horror”. He added: “The ingredient that we had going for our Mummy, which I didn’t see in that film, was fun,” he said. “That was what was lacking in that incarnation”.
“It was too much of a straight-ahead horror movie. The Mummy should be a thrill ride, but not terrifying and scary.”
The actor’s popularity has increased a lot since his role in “The Whale” and many fans are speculating if he would work in The Mummy franchise again, during an interview he told Deadline “I don’t know any juicy details about it, but it’s kinda been an open-ended question for some time now.”
“I’m not opposed to it. I don’t know an actor who doesn’t want a job… I don’t think I’ve been this famous and unsalaried at the same time in my professional life, so sign me up.” Fraser responded when asked about his plans to make a comeback in The Mummy reboot.
Fraser has received a lot of love and support from his fans and fellow co-stars including Dwayne Johnson who worked with him in The Mummy Returns. In an interview with MTV news Dawyne said “I wanna see him on that Oscar stage, and hold that sucker up, and deliver, I’m sure, what will be an amazing speech.”
