Brady Corbet Says “My Heart Is With Aubrey Plaza” As Her Husband Jeff Baena Passes Away

Filmmaker Jeff Baena known for his work on films like Life After Beth and The Little Hours, tragically passed away at the age of 47. His death confirmed as a suicide by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner. Baena, who married actress Aubrey Plaza in 2021, was found dead in his Los Angeles home on Friday morning. While Aubery Plaza, star of Parks and Recreation and The White Lotus has yet to comment publicly her family has requested privacy during this challenging time while speaking to Deadline.

Jeff Baena graduated from New York University with a degree in film and began his career working with prominent filmmakers like Robert Zemeckis and David O Russell before venturing into directing. His directorial debut film Life After Beth, starred his wife Aubrey Plaza which marked the beginning of their creative and personal partnership blossoming into love. The couple collaborated on several projects over the years seamlessly blending their professional and personal lives.

Amid his tragic passing, during the recent Golden Globe Awards director Brady Corbet, who won Best Movie Director for The Brutalist, honoured Jeff Baena and extended his condolences to Aubrey Plaza and her family. In his acceptance speech Corbet said, “Finally, tonight my heart is with Aubrey Plaza and Jeff’s family. Goodnight.” His heartfelt words resonated with the audience, acknowledging both Baena’s talent and the immense loss felt by those close to him.

Aubery Plaza, scheduled to present an award at the ceremony, was notably absent following her husband’s passing. The loss of Baena has left a void in the creative world, with many paying tribute to his contributions and extending support to Plaza.
