Black Panther: Wakanda Forever OTT Release Date Revealed!

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was the second Black Panther film to be made following the original in 2018.

After creating a buzz at the worldwide box office, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is finally heading to the OTT platform. Marvel Studios’ movie will be released on Disney+ on February 1. The Black Panther sequel became the sixth highest-grossing film of 2022 after making over $821 million worldwide.

The film was the second Black Panther film to be made, following the original in 2018. The first movie earned $84 million on opening day. Black Panther then opened to $202 million in February 2018, grossing over $1.4 billion worldwide, and became one of the highest-grossing films of all time.

Moreover, after the huge box office success, the film also received several nominations. Black Panther received seven Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Costume Design, Best Production Design, Best Original Score, Best Original Song (for All the Stars), Best Sound Editing, and Best Sound Mixing. Additionally, Black Panther 2 was the first superhero movie ever to be nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards.

Wakanda Forever took place after the death of King T’Challa as Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M’Baku, and Okoye fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers. The film is an emotional tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman, who died in August 2020 at age 43 after a private, four-year battle with colon cancer. Wakanda Forever was arguably the most emotional Marvel movie to be made so far due to the real-life loss of the original Black Panther.

Chadwick secretly battled stage three colon cancer for four years and continued that battle throughout the filming process for his five-picture deal with Marvel Studios. Ahead of the premiere, Chadwick’s fellow cast members and friends paid tribute to him as they celebrated their new film. Nyong’o, Angela Bassett, Winston Duke, Martin Freeman, Letitia Wright, Florence Kasumba and Gurira all reprise their roles from the first film.

The cast of the Blank Panther sequel will also include Tenoch Huerta, Michaela Coel, and Mabel Cadena. Many of the main stars cast from 2018’s super hit movie Black Panther would be seen returning for the sequel. Moreover, the Black Panther sequel also marks the beginning of a new era for Marvel as it introduces some key players for the rest of the Multiverse Saga.
