The current unstoppable wildfires in Los Angeles County have thrown Hollywood into disarray, forcing numerous TV productions to halt filming. From iconic shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Suits LA to newer hits such as Abbott Elementary, the entertainment industry is feeling the heat as fires rage across Pacific Palisades, Altadena and Sylmar.
The flames, driven by strong winds and dry conditions, have disrupted more than just daily life. According to the reports in Variety, major productions across the region have been paused including Max’s Hacks, NBC’s Happy’s Place and Suits LA, Apple TV+’s Loot and Peacock’s Ted. CBS shows like NCIS, NCIS: Origins, The Neighborhood, Poppa’s House, After Midnight and game show The Price Is Right have also stopped filming.
Disney and 20th Television productions such as Doctor Odyssey, Grey’s Anatomy and Jimmy Kimmel Live are among those hit hard. Over at Warner Bros., the Burbank studio lot has been closed, halting shows like Abbott Elementary, All American and The Pitt. Even Amazon Prime Video’s Fallout Season 2 delayed its planned restart this week.

Industry events have also taken a backseat. The Critics Choice Awards, BAFTA Tea and premieres for Unstoppable and Wolf Man have been postponed or cancelled. FilmLA, the agency issuing shoot permits has withdrawn filming permissions in affected areas, further complicating production schedules.
The fires have claimed lives, displaced thousands and destroyed over 10,000 acres in Pacific Palisades alone. In response, President Joe Biden has approved a major disaster declaration to provide federal aid. He promised on social media that the government would support recovery efforts for as long as needed.
As Los Angeles battles this crisis, Hollywood is left grappling with both safety concerns and disrupted schedules. The situation underscores how interconnected the industry is with the local community, all of whom are hoping for relief and recovery soon.
