Bad Bunny & Adam Sandler Team Up for ‘Happy Gilmore’ Sequel On Netflix

In a highly anticipated move, Netflix has confirmed that Latin music superstar Bad Bunny will join Adam Sandler in the sequel to the beloved 1996 comedy Happy Gilmore. The unexpected partnership promises to bring a fresh take on the classic, reviving the charm of the original while adding a modern twist.

The announcement comes as Netflix aims to tap into nostalgia while engaging younger audiences with new faces in familiar roles. Bad Bunny, a Grammy-winning artist, will star in a major Hollywood comedy, joining forces with Sandler, who returns as the quirky yet loveable golfer, Happy Gilmore.

Bad Bunny’s involvement comes after his recent forays into acting, including roles in Bullet Train and Narcos: Mexico. His performance in the Happy Gilmore 2 is expected to establish him as a versatile entertainer further.

Netflix’s decision to revive Happy Gilmore aligns with the platform’s ongoing strategy to create original content that appeals to a global audience. By pairing Sandler with Bad Bunny, Netflix aims to blend nostalgia with fresh star power, creating a film that attracts both long-time fans and younger viewers.

The upcoming sequel will be directed by Kyle Newacheck, who directed Adam Sandler in the Netflix comedy film, Murder Mystery. The screenplay is written by Tim Herlihy and Sandler, who is also producing the film along with Robert Simonds and Jack Giarraputo. The director of the original 1996 film, Dennis Dugan, will serve as the executive producer with  David Bausch, Judit Maull, Barry Bernardi, and Kevin Grady.

The sequel, Sandler’s Happy Gilmore is expected to face new challenges, with Bad Bunny’s role rumoured to be that of a charismatic rival. The film will likely maintain its roots in competitive golf while introducing contemporary elements that resonate with today’s audience.

Though specific plot details are being kept under wraps, fans can expect the same blend of slapstick humour and heartwarming moments that made the original a cult classic. The original Happy Gilmore was a box office success, grossing $41.2 million and solidifying Sandler’s career as a comedy icon.

As excitement builds around the sequel, the combination of Sandler’s comedic prowess and Bad Bunny’s rising stardom promises to make this Netflix release a must-watch.
