Marvel's Tom Holland and DC star Robert Pattinson is going to take a break from their superheroes in their upcoming Netflix movie, which will be released later this year.

Netflix has now reported that on September 16th, The Devil All the Time, from Marvel's The Punisher director Antonio Campos, will be world premiere on the streaming platform.

It is described as a psychological thriller film based on Donald Ray Pollock 's book, The Devil All the Time. Set in Ohio after World War II, the film follows a non-linear storyline of various individuals suffering from post-World War II damage to life.

Holland plays the character, Arvin Russell, while Pattinson will be playing character Preston Teagardin.

The movie features an all-star cast alongside Holland and Pattinson, including IT's Bill Skarsgard, Riley Keough, Alice in Wonderland's Mia Wasikowska, Eliza Scanlen, Harry Melling and Pokey LaFarge, while Sebastian Stan has replaced his Avengers co-star Chris Evans for Lee Bodecker 's role.

The Netflix film's full description reads, "Set in rural southern Ohio and West Virginia, The Devil All the Time follows a cast of compelling and bizarre characters from the end of World War II to the 1960s.

"There's Willard Russell, tormented veteran of the carnage in the South Pacific, who can't save his beautiful wife, Charlotte, from an agonising death by cancer no matter how much sacrificial blood he pours on his 'prayer log'. There's Carl and Sandy Henderson, a husband-and-wife team of serial killers, who troll America's highways searching for suitable models to photograph and exterminate.

"There's the spider-handling preacher Roy and his crippled virtuoso-guitar-playing sidekick, Theodore, running from the law. And caught in the middle of all this is Arvin Eugene Russell, Willard and Charlotte's orphaned son, who grows up to be a good but also violent man in his own right."

This marks a reunion for Holland and Pattinson, who had previously appeared together in 2017's The Lost City of Z, while both Holland and Stan are fresh from fighting Thanos in Avengers: Endgame too.

After a series of delays, most recently due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Holland teased earlier this week that production on its next project, Uncharted, is finally underway.
