Tom Hanks Starrer Elvis Presley's Biopic Shoot Gets Postponed
Director Baz Luhrmann announced that the production of Tom Hanks starrer Elvis Presley biopic has been halted after the Oscar winner screened positive for COVID-19 earlier this month.
Tom and his wife, Rita Wilson, were the first celebrities to go public about their diagnosis of coronavirus. The couple was tested positive in Australia while they were there for biopic production, which features Hanks as Colonel Tom Parker, Presley's boss. Baz took to social media to confirm the film's suspension.
“I’m sure it will come as no surprise that this is not the moment to be resuming production on the film. Please know this is in no way a reflection of our commitment to make this movie here in Queensland. In fact, we are not even taking our sets down, simply locking up the creative space over the next few days,” Baz tweeted.
The reports stated that Tom and Rita were discharged from the hospital after spending a few days in isolation. Later the couple rented a home in Australia to have some leisure time after winning the battle against the deadly virus.
Tom's eldest sister, Sandra Hanks Benoiton, gave an update on Hanks' health after Coronavirus diagnosis earlier this week and confirmed the actor isn't doing well.
The recent Hollywood celeb to get added to the list of COVID-19 positive is Talk Show host Andy Cohen.
