The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run is now headed to the streaming service, enabling Bikini Bottom inhabitant UK and foreign fans to enjoy his new adventure from the comfort of their own homes.

But, there is a small exception to that. The worldwide edition of Netflix excludes the United States and China (the subscription service is still unavailable in the latter).

Back in June, Paramount announced that the franchise 's third SpongeBob film will be excluding the cinemas entirely, instead of being launched on premium digital rental platforms in early 2021, before launching on the CBS AllAccess subscription service in the US.

"We are thrilled to have The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run, a premier, first-run movie from one of ViacomCBS' biggest brands, join CBS All Access' expanding slate of franchise content from across ViacomCBS," said Marc DeBevoise, ViacomCBS' Chief Digital Officer, and ViacomCBS Digital's President and CEO.

"This launch will be perfectly timed with our continued expansion and planned rebranding of the service in early 2021, as we welcome SpongeBob and the gang from Bikini Bottom to the service in the biggest way possible."

The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run is yet to be confirmed on Netflix by its UK and international release date, while the US audiences will be able to watch it on premium digital rental services in early 2021, and then on CBS AllAccess.

Meanwhile, Sponge on the Run is the third installment of the famous series and the first to feature full-CG versions of characters from Stephen Hillenburg. The last movie, Sponge Out of Water 2015, earned $325 million worldwide.

The Netflix and CBS All Access deals covered the budget for Sponge on the Run, which is undisclosed but is expected to be within the $60 million range, according to Variety's sources.
