In Middle Tennessee, where deadly storms devastated counties this week, including in Nashville, Taylor Swift donates $1 million to tornado relief efforts.

Swift said "Nashville is my home in an Instagram post made Thursday. She added that "the fact that so many people have lost their homes and so much more in Middle Tennessee is devastating to me." She included a reference to the Middle Tennessee Emergency Response Fund. Currently, the statewide death count is at 24. A pop star manager has confirmed the donation.

Swift was born in Pennsylvania but she relocated to Nashville to follow her dreams of music. Swift is also very much a part of Nashville — according to her latest Netflix documentary, "Miss Americana," she still votes there.

Swift's philanthropic activities stretch beyond Tennessee. In 2018 she gave a sneak preview of her concert in Arizona to 2,000 foster kids. She gave $6,000 for school tuition and rent to a fan in Canada last year, and appeared for another fan in Los Angeles who contacted her about planning a wedding proposal for her boyfriend.

Early Tuesday, a horrific tornado tore a 2-mile-long route through Putnam County killing 18 people, including five children under 13. About 88 were critically injured. Another severe storm barred east from Nashville along a 50-mile road, killing five; another disaster-related death occurred in Nashville's west county.
