Rihanna Donates $5 Million To Coronavirus Relief Efforts
Rihanna has joined the rising list of celebrities trying to help combat the pandemic coronavirus. Her non-profit organization— Clara Lionel Foundation (CLF)— has contributed $5 million to help prevent, prepare and respond to coronavirus efforts in the US and across the globe.
Established in 2012 in memory of her grandparents, the pop star project will help Humanitarian Aid, Partners In Wellness, Feeding America, the International Rescue Committee, the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund of the World Health Organization as they continue to fight the pandemic in The U.S., the Caribbean, and Africa, according to the sources.
Justine Lucas, Clara Lionel Foundation's Executive Director, said in a statement on Saturday "Never has it been more important or urgent to protect and prepare marginalized and underserved communities-those who will be hit hardest by this pandemic."
The CLF supported funding would go to local food banks serving the elderly and other at-risk populations in the U.S., healthcare and laboratory protective equipment, creating (and maintaining) ICUs, distributing respiratory supplies, testing, caring and helping native communities and countries like Haiti and Malawi, and more.
