Kate Middleton looked classic in her recycled Alexander McQueen gown as she and Prince William (BAFTAs President, who went on to speak about the lack of diversity in the nominees later in the night) made an appearance at the 73rd British Academy Film Awards held at Royal Albert Hall, London, United Kingdom.

Like most award shows, the BAFTAs too, had a dress code which called for the attendees to wear a garment that was either sustainable or recycled from either a past season or a red carpet appearance. Many nominees and presenters showed up in fresh-off-the-runway designs with a rare exception the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, who was seen adhering to the dress code.

Middleton donned a white Alexander McQueen dress designed by Sarah Burton for the event,  a look she was seen donning back in 2012 at Malaysia for a state dinner. The gown has specially embellished golden hibiscus shapes on the garment as it is the official flower of Malaysia. Even though, the gown was worn about seven years ago, it looks as current as ever with its unique design. The Duchess gave a refreshing twist to the look by pairing it with a set of Van Cleef & Arpels earrings and a necklace. Kate Middleton is easily one of the best dressed red carpet looks of the night and full points for adhering to the dress code!

Apart from the duchess, a handful of stars who played by the rules and adhered to the BAFTAs dress code were Saoirse Ronan in Gucci, Daisy Ridley in Oscar de la Renta and Olivia Colman’s in Alexander McQueen.
