The renowned streaming platform and production company Apple TV+ has latestly secured a new limited series adaptation of ‘Lucky’, a best-selling novel of same name written by Marissa Stapley. As reported by Variety, the British-American actress Anya Taylor-Joy as took up the charge of lead role for in the series, who also takes on executive producer role for this upcoming project. Known for her roles in Emma (2020), The Queen’s Gambit (2020), and The Menu (2022), Anya Taylor-Joy turns to another exciting venture in the world of television.
Anya Taylor-Joy will portray the lead role in this gripping drama, set to bring thrilling crime story to life, as the series is based on the New York Times bestseller, which was also a 2021 Reese’s Book Club selection. And the official logline for the series states that Taylor-Joy “stars as a young woman who left behind the life of crime she was raised in years ago, but must now embrace her darker, criminal side one final time in a desperate attempt to escape her past.”
This powerful role promises to challenge Taylor-Joy, known for her nuanced performances as she faces the darkness of her character’s history. Anya Taylor-Joy turns to this project after her success in The Queen’s Gambit, which earned her critical acclaim, winning a Golden Globe and an Emmy nomination.
The series is being developed by Apple Studios, with Jonathan Tropper acting as creator and co-showrunner alongside Cassie Pappas. Tropper will executive produce the show through his Tropper Ink banner. Reese Witherspoon, who previously selected the book for her book club will serve as an executive producer along with Lauren Neustadter for Hello Sunshine. Taylor-Joy will also be executive producing through her production company, Ladykiller Films.
The release date for Lucky is expected to be in 2025.
