Always been an Emmy Awards favorite in each year, before landing this breakout and trailblazing role in the successful and Emmy award winning series The Queen’s Gambit (Netflix, 2020), she had a big run as Thomasin in 2015’s horror The Witch and also as Casey in Split and this is indeed an interesting bit of scoop here that in an old interview back in 2017, Anya Taylor Joy on her fear said people will see me tense up.

In that global magazine interview back in 2017, when asked about her irrational fears Anya Taylor Joy had said, “My biggest irrational fear: revolving doors. Revolving doors have always freaked me out, and I’m not even claustrophobic. It’s just the speed that it’s going around. And I’m consistently worried that I’m not going to make it, so it’s going to cut me half or something. I just avoid, go through the other door immediately. People around me will literally see me just tense up, hold my hands, and be like, It’s fine. It’s fine”.

Also speaking about how she doesn’t really enjoy watching scary movies and what its like tapping into her emotions to play dark roles or deal with a heavy story, Anya had revealed, “I’m a real scaredy-cat. I’m not good at being scared. It just freaks me out. Actually, acting in a horror movie, you get to feel so much more intensely. Your brackets of acceptable emotion are so much wider, you get to really purge yourself of any emotions that you have put yourself in some really intense situations. After a big emotional scene, I get to go home and get a good night’s sleep”.

Interestingly even though she has recently won an Emmy Award 2021 for her performance in The Queen’s Gambit, Anya’s next movie project would showcase her being afraid to her fans across globe as she has been cast as main lead in an upcoming much awaited horror comedy film titled The Menu which is going to be helmed by Mark Mylod, that also stars Nicholas Hoult, Ralph Fiennes, and Judith Light.

The plot of The Menu revolves mainly around the world of culinary sophistication where questionable things show up on the menu and the description reads, “A young couple travel to a remote island to eat at an exclusive restaurant where the chef has prepared a lavish menu, with some shocking surprises”.

The Menu drops in theatres on 29th October 2021. In the meantime, stream The Queen’s Gambit Season 1 on Netflix.
