Fans of Colleen Hoover’s novels have already enjoyed the movie adaptation of It Ends With Us, starring Blake Lively. Now, there’s another treat in store, as Verity, one of Colleen’s most popular thriller books is being adapted into a movie with Anne Hathaway joins the cast as the lead, as reported by Deadline. Hathaway will play the titular character, Verity Crawford, in this highly anticipated film.
The story follows Lowen Ashleigh, a struggling writer who is hired by Jeremy Crawford to finish the remaining books in a series that his wife Verity, had started before her mysterious accident. As Lowen works on the manuscripts, she uncovers an unfinished manuscript that could reveal dark secrets about the Crawford family’s past.
This marks Anne Hathaway’s second collaboration with director Michael Showalter, following their work on The Idea of You, another book adaptation. Showalter is at the helm of the Verity movie, bringing the thrilling story to life. Hathaway, known for her range in roles will undoubtedly bring a compelling and chilling presence to the character of Verity.
The script for Verity was written by Nick Antosca, building on earlier drafts by Hillary Seitz, Angela LaManna, Will Honley, and April Maguire. The movie is being produced by Antosca and Alex Hedlund for Eat the Cat, alongside Showalter and Jordana Mollick for Semi-Formal Productions. Hathaway also serves as a producer for Somewhere Pictures.
Following the success of It Ends With Us, Colleen Hoover’s books are continuing to make waves in Hollywood. Alongside Verity, another of her novels Regretting You is also set for an indie adaptation, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
With Anne Hathaway joins the Verity cast, excitement is building for this new thriller. Fans are eager to see if it can match the success of It Ends With Us and break records in its own right.
