Abhay is a versatile performer who is best known for giving our bollywood film industry memorable and path breaking performances with films like Socha Na Tha (2005), Dev D (2009), Manorama: Six Feet Under (2007), Oye Lucky Lucky Oye (2008), Aisha (2010), Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara (2011), Raanjhanaa (2013), Happy Bhag Jayegi (2016), Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd (2007), Shanghai (2012), and so on.

He has managed to win the hearts of the audiences, fans, and critics by his unconventional platter of diverse roles which he successfully pulls off quite effortlessly.

He is a prolific actor who has proven his mettle and capability as a mainstream Bollywood film actor who lives his characters on the silver screen with a charismatic persona which reflects even off the screen.

Alongside Abhay Deol, actor Meera Syal has also been casted in the Disney Channel’s original film ‘Spin’. This film is going to be directed by Manjari Makijany.

Spin is basically a film that follows a story of an Indian-American teenager who has an in born passion to create DJ mixes that merge and blend textures of her Indian heritage with that of the world around her.

This news was made official by a leading international digital magazine that Bollywood actor Abhay Deol and UK’s Meera Syal will be joining the cast of the Disney Channel’s original film ‘Spin’ which is going to directed by Manjari Makijany of the ‘Desert Dolphin’ fame and has actor Avantika Vandanapu playing the lead role in the movie.

The film is about an Indian American teenager girl who discovers and gets to learn about her true calling and artistic side through the unique world of DJ culture.

Avantika will be portraying the character of Rhea, an Indian American teen who gets to know that she has a passion for creating DJ mixes that merge all the textures of her Indian heritage with rest of the world around her.

In an interview with a leading Indian digital website, the director said that this is indeed a special film for her as it is giving her an opportunity and chance to introduce the culture in a real and authentic manner.

She also said that, “The team at Disney is committed and passionate about representation and have been extremely supportive of my vision from casting a talented Indian actor such as Abhay Deol and the fantastic Meera Syal, to smaller details in the story that reflect the culture”.

The script of Spin has been written jointly by Carley Steiner and Josh A Cagan, while Zanne Devine is the executive producer of the film.

Praising and appreciating the executive producer of the film, Makijany in the same interview also spoke, “Zanne is a real champion for diversity and women in film and that is reflected throughout our cast and crew.”

She added that the conscious and thoroughly decided decisions of inclusion at the main and prime leadership level play an important part in helping to shape the narrative and the stories that they put out. Also she quipped that she is grateful to have an amazing director and is also blessed to have a truly global cast from Australia to India, UK, Canada and the US.

The film’s cast also includes Aryan Simhadri, Michael Bishop, Jahbril Cook, Kerri Medders, and Anna Cathcart.

According to recent media reports, Avantika is currently starring in Diary of a Future President for Disney+. The report also mentioned that production of the film is expected to begin filming and shooting in October with a release date sometime in 2021 on Disney Channel.

Abhay who was last seen in sci-fi mystery JL50, will be seen playing the role of Rhea’s father in the film. While Meera Syal will be seen portraying the character of Rhea’s spirited grandmother, Asha.
