Hollywood star Angelina Jolie is always in the public limelight for her life incidents. Whether it is about her divorce proceedings with ex-husband Brad Pitt, or if it is about one of her most awaited-films, Maria – a biopic on the opera singer Maria Callas, Jolie has always grabbed the front seat for netizens. This time, it is for neither of the two. The Maria star, in a recent interaction with The Sunday Times gave a blunt reply to an interviewer while she was asked about her opinion on getting a biopic created on her life.

While discussing about the big screen biopic movie on the opera singer, Angelina was questioned about how a biopic made on her, (in her opinion) would look like. With an intention to shut the question, Angelina Jolie immediately came out with a blunt response, calling it completely insane. She said, “That gets the most insane question award..When you’re a public person and you’re playing [someone else], you’re conscious of how you would hate for somebody to interpret your life or think they understand your life, so we tried to be thoughtful [with Maria]. Let’s hope there isn’t one about my life.” Jolie’s response turned out to be the centre of attraction for viewers as they saw the sheer ‘rejection’ in her words, for everyone who’d make a biopic on her life.
Talking about her work, Jolie has worked in the biopic movies for many notable individuals before. Whether it is about the supermodel Gia Carangi or journalist Mariane Pearl, Jolie has beautifully performed these real-life figures on the big screens. This time she comes up to showcase the final days of Callas, exploring her complex personality, dramatic love life, and the immense pressure of her storied career.
While she rejected the idea of her own biopic, Jolie continued to praise the movie Maria, as it allowed her to sing opera and confront her own feelings about life. Maria has already been the talk-of-the-town for many after it appeared to receive a standing ovation during the screenings at Film Festivals. The new movie is set to land on Netflix on December 11th, 2024 while the film will see a theatrical release in UK, Ireland, and Germany at a later date in 2025.
