Tony Todd, the well-known actor celebrated for his roles in several horror film franchises, including “Final Destination” and “Candyman,” passed away on November 6 at his home in Los Angeles. He was 69 years old. His representative confirmed the news of his death to Deadline; however, the cause of his passing has not yet been disclosed. Born on December 4, 1954, in Washington, DC, Todd pursued his acting career at the Eugene O’Neill National Actors Theatre Institute and the Trinity Rep Conservatory.

Throughout his 40-year career, Todd had more than 240 film and TV credits to his name. His significant contributions to horror cinema, particularly his leading role in the 1992 film – Candyman, earned him a Lifetime Achievement Award at the New York City Horror Film Festival. In addition to the Candyman series, Todd appeared in several television shows, including 21 Jump Street, Night Court, Matlock, Jake and the Fatman, Beverly Hills 90210, and more.
Todd also acted in the 1990 remake Night of the Living Dead as Ben. His next big role likely is his most famous, playing the mythical title creep with a hook for a hand in Candyman (1992), a character he reprised in the 2021 sequel of the same name.
