Akshay Kumar’s film Sky Force has hit the theatres on January 24th, 2025 – marking a classic debut of Veer Pahariya. On the occasion of Republic Day, this film has created a lot of buzz among the public and is expected to do well at the box office. However, one thing that has also caught equal public attention is the largely drawn comparsions between Abhishek Kapur’s Sky Force, and Siddharth Anand’s directorial Fighter. Last year, during the same time, film Fighter released at the box office. The film saw Deepika Padukone, Hrithik Roshan and many others in significant roles, but did not get a happening feedback. While Fighter received an average response from the audience, the buzz around this year’s release of Sky Force, roars of its upcoming success. Reacting to the same, the Fighter director blurted out his feelings on social media.
Siddharth Anand Hits At Makers of Sky Force
On Thursday, January 23rd, Fighter director Siddharth Anand took to his X and tweeted, “Hahahaha!! Insecurity hits new lows! I feel so important today! Have faith in your own self! Come on yo!! An old saying – By blowing off another candle, won’t make yours burn brighter! But alas…” His cryptic message highly speaks about his feelings on the release of Sky Force, as it comes just a night before Sky Force gets served into the theatres.
Fans React To Siddharth Anand’s Dig
Netizens began to react right away to Anand’s tweet. Taking it to his comments, an X user wrote, “Both will be replica to each other. Skyforce will be Fighter of 2025. BO collections will confirm this”. Another individual reacted to it saying, “FIGHTER will remain India’s Best Aerial Action Movie“.

A bunch of users also highlighted the fact that Siddharth Anand’s movie was more of a dramatic element and wrote in favor of Akshay Kumar starrer. One of the comments read, “Ironic coming from someone who made such a jingoistic and hate filled film“. One more individual came forward mentioning that there were unnecessary entertainment scenes, beach-scenes featuring the actress in bold outfits in film ‘Fighter’, but there is only a real plot shown in Sky Force which is why it will be loved by the audience but obviously. A third comment read, “Why are you reacting to it? Feeling insecure? It’s a different movie, different releases in a different year. Let it be whatever it does.”
Fighter V/s Sky Force
Talkin about the last year’s release, Fighter was made on a budget of whopping 400 crores. Hrithik-Deepika’s film Fighter released on January 25, 2024. It starred Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover, Akshay Oberoi and Sanjeeda Shaikh as IAF officers. Though it emerged as one of the highest-grossing films of 2024, makers were disappointed as it did not perform as per the expectations. Siddharth Anand on the mixed reviews to the film said that the probable reason is that a big ratio of people have not done air travel before. Now that, Veer Pahariya and Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force is releasing, it seemed as a copied version of Anand’s Fighter, which raised eyebrows during the last few promotional campaigns.
Sky Force is said to be ‘an untold story of honor, courage and patriotism that deserves to be shared’ and is based on a pivotal moment in Indian history. The actors Akshay and Veer are set to portray the IAF officers, who will showcase the nation’s retaliatory attack on Pakistan’s Sargodha airbase during the Indo-Pakistan war of 1965 – one of India’s first and deadliest airstrike.
