Telugu superstar Naga Chaitanya got engaged to longtime partner Sobhita Dhulipala last Thursday, at their Hyderabad residence. The moment was however, criticized by netizens who are all hearts for Tollywood actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Reportedly, Chay got engaged to Sobhita on the same day when ex-wife Samantha Prabhu previously proposed him. Fans therefore, called him out for intentionally choosing the day to offend Samantha. After several questions were raised on this sudden engagement, father Nagarjuna Akkineni has come out to speak on why did they chose August 8th and the reason behind this ‘hurried’ engagement.

In a conversation with Times of India, Nagarjuna was heard revealing the factual reason behind this immediate engagement. He said the date August 8th were checked in reference to the nakshatras by both the families and it was then that they realised it was a very auspicious day to begin with any good deed. As father Akkineni quoted, “We chose to have a hurried engagement because it was an auspicious day, and since Chay and Sobhita are very sure that they want to marry, we said, Let’s do it.“

Although Nagarjuna did not directly address the rising rumors of Naga Chaitanya getting engaged on the same day of having a memory with Samantha, but this revelation tends to be an indirect step towards shutting the criticizing mouths. As he talked further he also told that he knew Sobhita Dhulipala since a long time. It was even before Chay that Nagarjuna knew Sobhita, and had seen her performance in movies.
