Amidst the coronavirus lockdown, every channel has started airing their old shows, but Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan has bowled them all. The show became smashing hit as it gained record-breaking TRPs which other mainstream shows and channels couldn’t. Within four days of its telecast, the show became number one on Indian television but now Ramayan has become the world’s most-watched show with 7.7 crore viewership. The good news was shared by DD nationals official twitter account, they wrote, “WORLD RECORD!! Rebroadcast of #Ramayana on #Doordarshan smashes viewership records worldwide, the show becomes most-watched entertainment show in the world with 7.7 crore viewers on 16th of April.”

Ramayan has proved to be a stress buster for everyone in the family and has made people remember the good old days. However, the show came to an end last weekend but fans are already missing the show. Many are happy as they got to watch the epic show, while a majority of the audience were teary-eyed, seeing Sita’s sacrifice, fans also described the finale as ‘most painful.’ Superstar Swapnil Joshi who played the role Ram and Sita’s elder son Kush also got emotional and thanked his fans for supporting and appreciating the show this much and in no time fans took to social media to trend #UttarRamayanfinale and #ThankyouRamayan.

Earlier, Arun Govil, who plays Lord Ram, thought Ramayan re-telecast was a perfect way to teach the younger generation about Ramayan’s “morals, teachings, and principles.” He said, “The new generation will get a chance to watch it. They will get to understand the morals, teachings, and values of Ramayan. If they will watch it with the family, they can interact also. If they have queries then their family members of the older generation can explain things. It is a family show. How relationships should be…has been shown in the show. Positivity is there. Right now there is a lockdown, you can’t go anywhere. So watching it will be a good way to use the time,”

Apart from mythological shows like Ramayan and Mahabharat, Doordarshan has also brought back thriller, drama and comedy shows like Byomkesh Bakshi, Buniyaad and Dekh Bhai Dekh.
