When asked about what he thinks about other Mahabharat adaptation, especially Ekta Kapoor’s version, to which he replied, “Everyone has rights to say and make Mahabharat in their own way and it’s upon the audience if they like it or not, those criticizing are wrong. I read Mukesh Khanna’s interview and no one has given him any authority to criticize anybody’s work, I totally condemn Mukesh Khanna and his statement, he has no authority on Indian mythology, does he have any degree in Indian Mythology?” he continued, “Portraying one role doesn’t mean he can judge anyone. Ekta Kapoor has proved herself by making a number of hit shows like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki and many more, I am not favoring anyone, even though her version of Mahabharat didn’t work, but it’s her thought and her way of showing something”

The 63-year-old actor even slammed Mukesh for taking a jibe at Sonakshi Sinha for her inability to reply to a Ramayan question on Kaun Banega Crorepati, he stated, “Shatrughan Sinha is our senior, he’s elder to us, as an artist we should respect him and his family, what if my son who’s a doctor doesn’t know an answer related to Ramayan, maybe he has not read about it, that doesn’t mean we should shame him. Today, Sonakshi is a big actor, can you match her dancing skills with Mukesh, No. right? So I condemn Mukesh Khanna and in my opinion, he’s totally wrong”
