Indian singer Daler Mehendi, who contributed in making the Bhangra music overly popular and making Punjabi music a significant part of the Bollywood industry recently talked about the widely acclaimed singer Diljit Dosanjh. Diljit, who is also a Sikh is often landing into controversies. He was also seen in a biographical movie made on the life of musician, Amar Singh Chamkila. Talking about the same, Daler Mehendi slammed the G.O.A.T. singer for not following Sikh culture when he was playing the role of Amar in the movie.
Daler in a conversation with The Lallantop expressed his disappointment on Diljit Dosanjh cutting his hair, for Amar Singh Chamkila. He criticized Diljit that he always presents himself as a devoted-Sikh, and claimed that he would never take his turban off, then how could he cut his hair short just for a movie. Further, Daler Mehendi drew attention towards his upcoming film. He commented, “I have a movie named Welcome 3 coming up, and you will see me acting in it. But I did the whole movie wearing my turban as it is. I did not take it off or cut my hair short for the movie.”
Daler Mehendi further talked about the real life journey of Amar Singh Chamkila and said how most of the musician’s songs used to be double-meaning. The Bolo Ta Ra Ra singer definitely appreciated Diljit Dosanjh for his artistry and acting skills, but did not hesitate to express his dissatisfaction upon his unexpected step being a Sikh.
