Current social distancing rules mean actors are not allowed to perform intimate scenes right now, however real-life couples living in the same household might get close to the camera.

That means the character Tim Metcalfe of Duttine and Abi Franklin of Carman could possibly get up close and personal.

Talking to Inside Soap, however, Duttine said he wouldn’t be a fan of seeing Tim and Abi hook up because on set it would be distracting.

“That’s the last thing me and Sally want,”  he said. “It would be a disaster. We would make each other laugh all the time, we wouldn’t be able to concentrate – and it’d be a little too close to home, wouldn’t it?

“We don’t want that as it’s nice to have a life away from the Street. We met at Corrie and that’s always going to be special for us, but we don’t want to act it out on screen!”

Tim is currently with Sally on the cobbles (played by Sally Dynevor), and although the pair is going through a rocky period, Duttine is glad to see them together.

Writers put Tim and Sally together initially to keep her entertained while Kevin was off with a different storyline,” he added. “I didn’t think it would last, but they clicked, and the writers really got hold of it.

“I like that because in soap, a lot of couples keep falling out and breaking up, so it’s good to see a monogamous couple.
