The controversial case of gangster Vikas Dubey has been the talk of the town for a while. The news of his mysterious and tragic death became a sensation on TV channels and also on social media platforms. Well, now the ever-curious case of the late gangster is all set to take a form of web series.

Renowned producer Shailesh R Singh has obtained the rights to the Vikas Dubey’s story and all the events that led to his ultimate encounter. For the unversed, Shailesh R Singh has previously produced noteworthy films like Tanu Weds Manu, Shahid, Omerta, and Judgemental Hai Kya. The web series will be helmed by Nation Award-winning director Hansal Mehta.

The reports suggest that Vikas Dubey’s family had to be convinced to narrate his love story. They have given a green signal for the same and have asked to represent his story with authenticity.

Ace filmmaker Hansal Mehta shared the news on his Twitter handle by retweeting a tweet. He retweeted the news by writing, “Development begins soon. @shaileshrsingh thank you for this…”

Speaking of the same Mehta also said that according to him it is an important story. He added that it is a reflection of our times and our system where crime, politics, and lawmakers form a curious angle. The director mentioned that he sees an edgy political thriller emerging out of Vikas Dubey’s case.

For the unversed, the alleged encounter of Vikas Dubey took place on July 10. Dubey was killed in an encounter when the convoy taking him from Madhya Pradesh to Uttar Pradesh overturned in Kanpur and he tried to escape it.  He was accused of the death of eight policemen and carried a Rs 5 lakh reward for information leading to his arrest.
