In response, American comedian John Oliver urged people to stop playing the blame game. “It is too early to have a definitive answer as to how Harris lost, but that hasn’t stopped people from making big accusations,” he said during his first late-night episode since the election.

Oliver expressed an understanding of the appeal of blame, noting that it can be entertaining. He pointed out that Trump has recently been re-elected, running on a platform that revolves around the idea of placing blame.

Additionally, Oliver made a sarcastic remark about renowned singer Katy Perry, jokingly suggesting that her involvement was to blame for Harris’s election loss. He said, “I’d personally like to imagine that everything that happened is Katy Perry’s fault.” This comment highlighted Perry’s performance at Kamala Harris’s final rally the night before Election Day, where she sang three of her own songs and performed a cover of Whitney Houston’s 1986 classic, “Greatest Love of All.”
