The Netflix series IC814: The Kandahar Hijack is receiving utmost hate from fans. Right after its release on Friday, the series has gained huge backlash from the netizens on changing the names of the terrorists. The Netflix release that is being accused of hurting the Hindu sentiments and disrupting the reality has led to Bollywood being the bigger villain.

3 days after the release and criticism following it, #BoycottBollywood is going trending. Fans willing to get the series off-air have begun to trend the hashtag to show the backlash on the series. The controversy started when the ruling party BJP alongwith a few viewers, allegedly accused makers of IC814: The Kandahar Hijack to be protecting the Pakistani criminals and whitewashing their offences by renaming them as Shankar and Bhola in the series.
Users on X are now blaming the entire Bollywood industry for being very insensitive towards the Hindu religion. Fans who have watched IC814: The Kandahar Hijack, are sharings posts revealing the real names of the culprits behind the hijack. Currently, #BoycottBollywood is running at the top on the social media platform with more than 20k posts. Comments state that the industry always tries to defame our traditions and religion, while encouraging the enemies of Pakistan.

IC814: The Kandahar Hijack is a six-episode series about the hijacking of an Indian Airlines flight, that took place in December 1999. This 7 days – hijack remains to be the longest held hijack till the present date. The five men who hijacked the aircraft belogned to Pakistani criminals, however, director Anubhav Sinha is now accused of intentionally naming the offenders as Hindu culprits. Certain politicians too came at front claiming that in the future, this action would lead to people thinking that Hindus hijacked the flight, keeping the real criminals protected.
