Yami Gautam Reacts To Nepotism And Says There Is No Versus In Indian Cinema

Yami Gautam replied to questions on nepotism and Bollywood vs South during a Twitter reaction with fans

Yami Gautam started her acting career with a television show and then landed in a movie titled Vicky Donar opposite Ayushmann Khurrana. Since then she built her position in the entertainment industry appearing in multiple movies. Recently the actress conducted an Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on Twitter. She interacted with fans on the microblogging site and opened up on nepotism. 

On Wednesday, Yami tweeted, “Hey guys! It’s been a while since we caught up on Twitter. Let do a #AskYami session at 6 this evening.” To this one of her fans questioned  “Do you think in bollywood non-family background talent face any nepotism? U feel it?”

The 33 years old actress who has completed 10 years in Bollywood said she doesn’t want to look in the past. Responding to the question Yami tweeted, “What happened in the past is done! We have to focus on NOW to make this place better with brilliant films & talent, regardless of our respective backgrounds! And I feel that change is definitely happening now.”

Gautam who got married to director Aditya Dhar gave a strong answer on Bollywood vs South. Before stepping into Bollywood she worked in the south industry as well. She did three films down the south making a big Bollywood hit debut in Shoojit Sircar’s 2012 directorial, Vicky Donor. 

Another question she came across AMA session was asked “Your thoughts on Bollywood vs South debate? Why are Bollywood films lagging behind?” She replied,  “There is no versus. Any industry that is doing great is eventually great for Indian cinema ! Hindi films need to invest more time in better scripts, good actors, different visuals, stories etc. We shall try our best to ensure audience feels engaged & happy in the end.”

On the work front, Yami was last seen in Dasvi opposite Abhishek Bachchan. Next in the pipeline, she has Oh My God! 2 featuring  Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Arun Giv. OMG is a sequel to Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal 2012 film OMG – Oh My God! The actress also has the Netflix film Chor Nikalke Bhaaga with Sunny Kaushal, and an investigative drama titled Lost in the kitty.
