Choreographer Shaik Jani Basha, widely recognized in the industry as Jani Master, has been accused of sexual assault, leading to a zero FIR being filed against him. The complaint, lodged on Monday, involves a 21-year-old colleague who alleges that Jani Master raped her multiple times. The case has garnered significant media attention, casting a spotlight on the serious allegations against the well-known choreographer. Who Is Jani Master?
Jani Master, whose career began with the dance reality show Dhee and saw its first major success in the 2009 film Drona featuring Nithiin and Priyamani, has faced serious legal troubles.
His notable rise came in 2012 with his choreography for Ram Charan’s Racha, leading to a series of collaborations with several South prominent actors like Allu Arjun, Pawan Kalyan, Jr NTR, and others. By 2014, he had expanded his reach to Bollywood, working on the choreography for Salman Khan’s Jai Ho.
Jani Master recently worked on choreography for several big films, including “Srivalli” song from Pushpa: The Rise, “Yentamma” song from Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, “Laal Peeli Akhiyaan” song from Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, and “Aayi Nai” from Stree 2.
Additionally, this year, he won a National Award for Best Choreography for the song “Megam Karukkatha” from the film Thiruchitrambalam.
Jani Master R*pe And Se*ual Harrasment Case
On Monday, choreographer Jani Master was accused of sexually assaulting a woman, including during outdoor shoots and at her home. The case was filed as a zero FIR and transferred from Raidurgam to Narsingi police station. The woman was a minor when the assaults occurred.
Jani, who is married to classical dancer Ayesha and has two children, was actively involved with Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena Party. In response to the allegations, the party has asked him to step away from its activities. The Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce is also investigating the claims through its sexual harassment redressal panel.
