Where Does Veteran Actress Mumtaz Live Now?

Veteran actress Mumtaz disappeared from showbiz after getting married to Mayur Madhvani in 1974. Mumtaz turned 75 on July 31 this year. Know more about her.

Yesteryear actress Mumtaz is still considered one of the best actresses in the history of Hindi cinema. Born in a poor family, Mumtaz had to start working at the tender age of 11. She started her career by playing smaller roles and within a few years, she became the leading actress in the Hindi film industry. She carved a niche and became known for her versatility. The gorgeous diva even emerged to be a sex symbol during the 1970s and was the highest-paid woman in Bollywood.

In 1974, she married businessman Mayur Madhvani and decided to stay away from showbiz. Her film Aaina was released in 1977, post which, she took a long sabbatical from films. In 1990, she made a comeback after 13 years with the film Aandhiyan, which was her last film.

Where Does Actress Mumtaz Live Now?

Mumtaz married Uganda-based businessman Mayur Madhvani in 1974. After the wedding, Mumtaz decided to put her career in the back seat and focus on her family. She shifted to Uganda and then to London and stayed away from showbiz for a long time. However, after her children grew up and got settled in their lives, Mumtaz began frequently visiting Mumbai. She once said in an interview, “Kya karen, purane doston ki yaad aati hai. I guess as one grows older one gravitates towards one’s roots. I do miss my friends in Mumbai while in London.”

Mumtaz and her husband have their base in Uganda, London and Mumbai. As Mumtaz turned 75 this year, they had a family celebration in Uganda. Mumtaz’s husband Mayur Madhvani hosted a big lunch and the couple’s two daughters attended it with their kids.

Mumtaz and Mayur have two daughters- Natasha and Tanya. Natasha is married to Fardeen Khan and they lived in Dubai. The duo has now shifted to Mumbai as Fardeen aims to make a comeback. Mumtaz’s younger daughter Tanya lives in Rome “which is an hour’s flight from London and one reason why I made London my headquarters was that I could fly to Tanya in Rome in an hour,” Mumtaz said during an interview with a leading daily.

Mumtaz often visits Mumbai now. She has several residential properties here. There are reports that Mumtaz might be making a comeback with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s web series ‘Heeramandi’. It also features Mumtaz’s son-in-law Fardeen Khan.
