If you ask anyone born in the early 2000s about their favourite childhood movie, chances are that Taare Zameen Par would be at the top. This 2007 classic directed by Aamir Khan, touched hearts with its moving portrayal of a young boy’s struggle with dyslexia and his inspiring bond with a teacher. Now, with a sequel titled Sitaare Zameen Par on the horizon, we reminisce the time when the actress Tisca Chopra talked about her experience working on the original film during an interview with Lehren Podcast.
In her conversation, Tisca, who played the mother of the main character Ishaan, expressed her admiration for Aamir Khan’s commitment and vision. Tisca spoke fondly of her role in the film, one that resonated deeply with mothers and children alike. When asked about how it was working with Aamir like many dream of working with the actor, she revealed how awe-inspiring it was to collaborate with him in not just one, but three capacities – as an actor, director and producer.
Reflecting on the same, Chopra said, “Actually mera dream x3 hogaya. Kyuki Aamir ke saath kaam karna as an actor insaan soch sakta hai, chalo actor and producer bhi soch sakta hai but as an actor-producer and also a director is too much! Its like a dream come true, come true, come true!”
“Iss tarah ka focus agar ek actor ke paas ho toh koi bhi character ubhar ke aa sakta hai,” Tisca shared.
Tisca also touched on how she was the last actor cast for the film and initially felt nervous about fitting in. Despite this, the team welcomed her warmly and she found Aamir’s off-screen persona to be both humble and grounded. She noted how he always stays true to himself, regardless of his fame.
