When Ranveer Singh Lost Role To Ranbir Kapoor For Poor Star Value

At the Koffee with Karan couch 7, Ranveer Singh revealed how he lost a role to Ranbir Kapoor

The Gully Boy pair Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt graced the first episode of Bollywood’s most controversial chat show Koffee with Karan 7. The host Karan Johar hosted the pair from his upcoming movie Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani as his first guests. The trio sipped coffee brewing no-holds-barred conversation. Spilling some beans on personal life and work-life Ranveer Singh revealed losing a role to Ranbir Kapoor.

The first episode of the much-awaited chat show Koffee with Karan 7 premiered on July 7 on Disney+ Hotstar. This season will be thoroughly available on the digital platform instead of being aired on Star World as well. The season kickstarted with the first fun episode having guests Ranveer and Alia with host Karan Johar. They played the fun rounds of Koffee Bingo, Rapid Fire, and fun buzzer rounds.

During the Koffee Bingo round the Jayeshbhai Jordaar actor divulged the fact of being replaced by Ranbir Kapoor when his status in the industry was not quite strong. The ‘Koffee Bingo’ game had points like ‘Hated a gift given by bae’, ‘Didn’t speak to my partner for over a week’, ‘Quickie in the vanity van’, and more. While playing the game with Alia, Ranveer Singh chose ‘got rejected for a role’.

To get more information the host asked him if he was referring to Bombay Velvet directed by Anurag Kashyap. Interestingly Karan’s guess was accurate as Ranveer agreed to it. He further said: “I was not rejected, K. I was unceremoniously dropped because at the time I couldn’t justify the budget. My star value wasn’t high. But things have changed.”

KJo who had played the antagonist in Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet said “well done”. Ranveer Singh was Kashyap’s first choice for the character of Johnny Balraj which was essayed by Ranbir Kapoor. The makers rejected Anurag’s suggestion and roped Ranbir opposite Anushka Sharma.

On the work front, Ranveer is shooting for Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani with Alia Bhatt. He also has Cirkus and Takht in the pipeline.

On the other hand, Ranbir Kapoor is gearing up for Shamshera and Brahmastra after four years of break from the silver screen. He is also shooting for Luv Ranjan’s next that has Shraddha Kapoor as the female lead.
