When Madhuri Dixit Went To Watch Her Film ‘Tezaab’ In A Burqa

Madhuri Dixit recalls an incident from the year 1988 when she went to watch her film 'Tezaab' in theatre.

Madhuri Dixit has been making us fall for her for decades now. Back in 1988, the actress became a nationwide sensation with her song ‘Ek Do Teen’ in the film ‘Tezaab’. Years have passed, but it is still one of the most iconic songs of Bollywood.

When you have a grooving song like ‘Ek Do Teen’ and a sensational beauty like Madhuri Dixit, you can imagine the atmosphere of cinema halls. People can be seen whistling and dancing while enjoying big screen moments like that! And to witness that, Madhuri once decided to watch her own film. However, she went undercover with the fear of getting mobbed.

Madhuri revealed on The Kapil Sharma Show, “Everyone was telling me how popular my song ‘Ek Do Teen’ had become and how much fun it was to watch it on the big screen in the theatre. So I decided that I will also go and watch it. I went to Chandan Cinema which is a single screen theatre. I wanted to personally experience how the crowd reacts. We went inside and sat and I was in burqa. I was waiting for ‘Ek Do Teen’ and as the song started, we were sitting in the front row seats and from behind us people were throwing coins towards the screen! All of that money was landing our heads!”

Madhuri Dixit is now making her Netflix debut with a series titled ‘The Fame Game’. She will be seen sharing screen space with her ‘Raja’ co-star Sanjay Kapoor. It will start streaming on 27 Feb.
