When Lara Dutta’s Mother Jennifer Dutta Participated In Miss India Pageant

Lara Dutta made India proud when she was crowned as Miss Universe in the year 2000. The beauty with brains went on to make a career in Bollywood and was a part of popular Hindi films like ‘Andaaz’, ‘No Entry’, ‘Partner’, ‘Housefull’, and ‘Bell Bottom’.

While the world is mesmerized by her charisma and intellect, not many people are aware that she has got it all from her mother. Lara Dutta’s mother is a gorgeous lady who once participated in a beauty pageant.

Lara Dutta was born to a Hindu father and an Anglo-Indian mother in 1978. While her father served as a Wing Commander, her mother was inclined toward the glamour industry.

Lara’s mother Jennifer Maureen Storey (later named Jennifer Dutta, after marriage) represented Madras at the Miss India pageant during her modelling days. She was the first runner-up at the prestigious pageant held in 1967.

While Jennifer Dutta couldn’t win the Miss India crown, her daughter Lara Dutta fulfilled her dream and not only bagged the Miss India title, but also represented the country at a global level and became the second Miss Universe from India.

Lara once shared a picture of her mother from the pageant on social media. She wrote, “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree!!! My stunning mother (on the left), was first runner up at Miss India. She represented as Miss Madras! Was the only contestant to compete in a dress!!”

Lara was last seen in the spy thriller film ‘Bell Bottom’ alongside Akshay Kumar. The actress was in news for her unbelievable prosthetics and makeup as she played Former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the film.
